The talented schoolboy set to make millions

The 9-Year-Old Mini Monet

I remember first hearing the excitement about Kieron Williamson on a television programme after the little boy had famously sold 19 of his painting for £14,000 in 2009. It sounded like another modern art craze, a schoolboy's paintings becoming all the rage now that the public had tired of carcasses in glass boxes and used tampons (yawn) but when I saw the works of art I really couldn't believe my eyes.

In July 2010, an exhibition of 33 watercolours, oils and pastels from Kieron's collection of work sold out for £150,000 within 30 minutes as buyers flew in from Arizona, New York and South Africa, some even camping outside 48 beforehand to be first in line.

Kieron is now nine-years-old and is so beautifully talented that he come to be known as ' Mini Monet' with his latest collection of 24 paintings selling for £250,000. It's simply incredible, I still find it hard to believe a nine-year-old boy can have such a natural eye for lighting, shading and fine detail, let alone be able to reproduce the sceneries with such precision and skill.

He is now about to become a millionaire although his parents, Michelle and Keith, have been investing his earnings on his behalf and Kieron will not be given free access to his wealth until he reaches 18. Despite so much success and reason to be proud, the family have remained very modest moving from their rented flat to a £150,000 home in Norfolk Broads and Kieron himself is unphased by his extraordinary talent.

When speaking of the young artist, Picturecraft gallery's managing director, Adrian Hill explains,

'If you ask him about his incredible financial success, he just looks at you and grins. His first question is never, 'did I sell them all?' Instead he asks, 'did people like them?'

In an interview Kieron was asked if it meant anything to him to have earned nearly £1million. He just smiled and replied, 'Not really' before adding, 'I would like to go to other countries to paint and experience different lights. I want to explore Norfolk, Cornwall and Scotland a bit more.'
