We're addicted to rising shoe designer Sophia Webster

Shoe Art is the New Nail Art

Just as nail art seems to have burst through in the last few years moving away from the classic French manicure to the boldest, brightest, most imaginative creations, so too has the shoe industry ditched the classic pump for a turn in the limelight. Forget chic, elegant heels, today the more original the better, even the hero brand of nude shoes, L.K Bennett, has teamed with Caroline Issa for a more exotic Thailand inspired capsule collection and the quirkier shoe labels are growing fast.

We first fell for the themed designs of Charlotte Olympia which saw pom poms and exotic plants transformed into the most beautiful and unique platform shoes and more recently, an Eiffel Tower taking pride of place on a statement black stiletto shoe... and how sweet are the mini spiderweb logos placed on the sole of each shoe?

Our new shoe crush, however, is on designer Sophia Webster whose designs are totally unique and buzzing with colour! Sophia has already designed a capsule collection with Topshop which she described as 'Edward Scissorhands meets rainbow Narnia meets Clueless', a fantasy world for adult girls with styles which are fun and sexy rolled into one.

Sophia says her influences come from music as she explains to the BFC, 'music plays a big part in my design process; I can only really focus on designing when I have music on. It’s often an eclectic mix depending on my mood. I love listening to Rinse FM - it's always playing what is new and fresh in London that you wouldn’t hear on other stations, but I also listen to a lot of reggae, 90s RnB and neo soul. My dad is a collector of reggae and rare soul vinyl and was a DJ when I was younger so I was brought up listening to music really loud all the time.'

Sophia Webster shoes are stocked around the world but available online exclusively at Net-a-Porter so head over and take a look at these beautiful statement shoes that will dress up any outfit... now you just have to match your nail art to them!
