And it's a very surprising choice...

H&M Confirms Next Guest Designer

There were rumours, there was excitement and then came the confirmation. Take a seat boys and girls because this news might very well make you weak at the knees... It's long been known that luxury designer brands have teamed up with H&M, giving us high street shoppers the chance to splash out on the likes of Jimmy Choo, Lanvin and most recently, Marni... after all Versace's Versace whether for H&M or not. But the latest confirmed guest designer for the store is none other than Belgian avant-garde label Maison Martin Margiela.

For those of you who are not familiar with the label, think of the eccentric style of Japanese brand Comme des Garcons with turned the fashion scene around with its ground-breaking designs. Martin Margiela studied at Antwerp's Royal Academy of Fine Arts alongside the legendary fashion collective Antwerp Six, formed of six avant-garde designers, and he is still considered to be the '7 th' member of the group. Together they have carried on revolting against luxury designer fashion with oversized lengths of materials and lining, hems and seam inside out in a form of 'deconstruction' of classic fashion.

The Maison Martin Margiela is now a reputable label with collections consisting of awesome deconstructed pieces that are perfect for adding an edgy, rock angle to your classic outfits ( their website alone is really cool!) One or two key items are a must in your wardrobe but unfortunately the 3-4 figure price tags aren't accessible to all and that's why we're super excited about the forthcoming H&M collaboration... Who knew we'd end up owing so much to a high street store?

The key info is the launch date in stores and online, make a note of the 15 th of November and try to get there early as queues are usually long for these collaborations. We don't know much about the items as of yet but H&M have diffused this suitably weird CV-style confirmation of the collaboration as well as a sneak preview sketch of one of the dresses in this Youtube video... eek!
