She's the internet sensation set for super stardom. Her winter (homemade) YouTube hit,
Video Games, landed her a record deal and her first official album,
Born to Die, is released at the end of January. There's much controversy surrounding the singer already: her critics maintain she is a manufactured artist and not the emotive singer she pertains to be (she released an earlier pop album a few years ago which was mysteriously pulled from iTunes) and there are stories circulating about cosmetic surgery. But no matter what her provenance may be, there is no denying this girl has stage presence and singing talent. She's also utterly beautiful and has unsurprisingly just been signed to
Next Model Management (
Alexa Chung's agency). We've chosen her
American Beauty-inspired album cover as our favourite make-up look for this week. The hair and lips are doing their own Lana thing here, but arm yourselves with pretty pinks and some killer mascara and you're half way there!
Armani Luminous Silk Foundation
This is the brand's best-selling make-up and for good reason. It's silky to the touch and the effect is just as smooth and velvety when applied. Light reflective with wonderful coverage even if used sparingly. According to world-renowned make-up artist, Charlotte Tilbury, the key to a youthful daytime look is not to cover the skin in an attempt to achieve a flawless finish but leave make-up a little translucent so you can still see the nuances of your complexion. £34 from giorgioarmanibeauty.co.uk and major department stores.
Stila Smudge Crayon
A new release for spring, the waterproof smudge crayon is a multi-tasker. You can use it as a primer, an eyeshadow and a liner. Cover lids with the Antique shade, a warm chestnut colour and layer your lid with a super soft dark grey kohl pencil. £14 from Boots, HQHair.com and Asos.com. Released February
Stila Love at First Sight blush
Another great release from the brand and a limited edition too for Valentine's Day. Three shades of pink in a montage of hearts, what more could you ask for? Use just a very mean dusting on cheekbones for a natural, doll-like glow. £12 from Boots, HQHair and Asos.com, Released February
Diorshow Backstage Mascara
Keep all your drama for your lashes with this classic beauty wand which is also Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's weapon of choice. Lay it on thick on top and bottom lashes but don't curl upwards too much for a sexy 'come-hither' effect. £22 from major department stores.
Rouge Coco Shine in Boy
Boy by name, ultra girly by nature. This is the softest, sexiest pink you could wish for. The lipstick is butter soft and gives a sultry, glimmery effect, just like Lana's cushioned pout. £23 from major department stores.
